In our last update we discussed production delays. Since then we’ve had a major shift in our manufacturing process. Over the last 18 months we’ve been dealing with a very reputable manufacture of aluminum products in China. I’ve personally traveled there 5 times in the last year and a half. And although they produce very high quality products, our design requires more exacting manufacturing. In early December, I traveled there to give final approval on the process. However, I chose instead to halt production in China in favor of bringing it back to the US. This decision was a very expensive and time consuming one to make, but I felt it necessary to insure that every product we make is held to the highest and most exacting standards that we require.
Setting up manufacturing in California has caused us to push back our delivery of the First 100 Club products until March. Within 24 hours of returning to the US on Dec. 14, we began ordering all the equipment and raw materials that we need to start building all Hitch Hotel products here. Last week we began building the Hitch Hotel Classic. It was a very exciting day for our company. The short term problems that this shift has created will be far outweighed by the long term successes, not the least of which is that we can proudly say, “Made in the USA!”
Making the choice to move manufacturing has been weighing on me personally for a while now. However, after a lot of thought and sleepless nights, I know it’s the right thing to do. We can’t wait to show you how the Hitch Hotel line of products will change the way people go RVing.
